About Des Peres, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Des Peres traces its unusual name to the Jesuits who initially settled the area at the start of the eighteenth century. The name means "Of the Father′s" and, while it might seem strange that a town settled largely by German immigrants and Southerners bears a French name, after two centuries of common use, it simply stuck and, when the modern community was incorporated in 1934, Des Peres was the only name considered. Those early German immigrants were directly responsible, due to their cultural love of flowers, for the proliferation of greenhouses in the town, two of which remain, the Tomasovic and Eckelmann.

The sad increase in the number of homeless children caused by the Civil War resulted in the creation of the German Luther Orphans Home. When that home was destroyed by fire in 1935, a replacement was built entirely with public donations totaling over $100K – even in the midst of the Great Depression. That building stands today, following the closure of the orphanage in 1996, as the Des Peres City Hall.

Des Peres boasts six public parks for a total of over 100 acres of recreational land and facilities. Currently experiencing an increase in new home construction, Des Peres is a great place to live. The town′s weather is comfortable all year with average temps between 20 and 90.
